Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet

Hunker down at your flat at 221b Baker St. in London. The year is 1896, and Scotland Yard has called Sherlock Holmes with an urgent request for help. Along with Watson, you must investigate a peculiar crime - a young painter has been murdered and found rolled up in a remarkable Persian carpet. Explore scenes in order to find clues and reveal suspects. Use Police reports with interrogations and statements of witnesses in Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of the Persian Carpet.

At times the cursor will transform into a magnifying glass, indicating that you have access to a magnified view. A few puzzles are quite easy, but most are challenging without being ridiculously difficult - the HO's are very challenging tho - so fair warning Many items are actually puzzles themselves that you will need to solve in order to progress. One tip: most of the evidence you're seeking is very similar -- strands of hair, ashes, footprints, etc. It would probably be more enjoyable to play it in the Untimed Mode, at least the first time you play it. There is no voiceover but quite a lot of dialogue which is clickable but still quite slow. Overall, I enjoyed the difficulty of the various puzzles. The are challenge and interesting, Most of them are variant of some common puzzles hanoi tower, nonogram, etc. Also, you will sometimes see small gears at the bottom of your cursor which lets you know that there is an action to be performed. No bonus play but you get to repeat the puzzles. Although i will not recommend this game if you just want something relaxing and do not require lots of thinking. But use common sense if you cannot find them.

Once the action is complete the silver gear will turn tje a golden color. These might be little annoying -Indeed, hidden objects are tiny. Subsequent levels will require you to travel to different locations and solve a wide variety of puzzles and hidden object levels, while returning periodically to the Baker Street flat to organize your clues on the board. Not fun. This saved me a great deal of time in many of the hidden object levels. In order to Pfrsian this, select the item from New Yankee in King Arthurs Court 5 inventory and drag it above the puzzle icon. You must find a series of objects within the scene as well as solve a relatively simple puzzle involving the lamp. This is a very different game. Let's go! The game begins when you travel to a deserted room within the cement works plant. In fact, I liked this game so much, I played it four times! Many puzzle styles. Half way through I got stuck at the Deduction Board and I had no hints left. Dark, small objects and some places very difficult.

In case you might be wondering, no, I don't like to use Hints myself. Confusing user interface. I know it is a rather old game, but if you haven't played it yet, I would definitely check it out. Rich storyline. For those that like stories, or something different with some nice puzzles then this is a check out game. But, believe me, they can really come in handy in this game, because the hidden objects can be really, really small. But use common sense if you cannot find them. I don't even look at this like an old pure adventure game. This is a very different game. I will forgive a game most anything if there are no junk pile scenes. This saved me a great deal of time in many of the hidden object levels. But put this in a more interactive mystery book type game. Finally, I should mention that you can choose to play this game in the Timed or Untimed Mode, regardless of the Difficulty Mode you choose. In fact, I liked this game so much, I played it four times! But it's up Day D: Time Mayhem you. The Casual Mode has easy puzzles, allows you to skip up to 7 puzzles, and provides you with "guided, linear investigation" which, as I learned by playing, means that they open up only the locations, and spots within a given location, one by one. One tip: most of the evidence you're seeking is very similar -- strands of hair, ashes, footprints, etc. This is a very different game. The small inventory window at the bottom of the screen shows you the silhouettes of any objects that must be recovered from the location. For those that like stories, or something different with some nice puzzles then this is a check out game. But it's up to you. As I mentioned, the levels are usually short, and even 3 Hints can be enough. Restarted and was very careful not to use hints unless absolutely necessary. But don't let that deter you. Let's go! It is here that you can do forensic analysis on clues that you uncover at a small desk is laden with small vials, solvent, water, a small burner and a handy microscope. Just go to Options, and you will see it at the very top of the page. You have to think a lot when you play. Scotland Yard calls on Sherlock Holmes to investigate this strange case along with his friend Watson. Like the Detective Mode, it too has "difficult" puzzles and allows you to skip up to only 3 puzzles, but there is no "guided, linear investigation. I don't think the puzzles are particular hard but some like the painting are just tedious. I probably would have given it an overall rating of 4 stars had not the average rating been so low - and it definitely deserves to be higher than 2. There is a lot more to Mystery of the Persian Carpet than simply hidden object play. This game is maybe not as good as authentic adventure games, it might be good for those who want something different. I like all except Coded Lock Puzzle, which is quite difficult to analyze the possibility strategy; 2. For those that like stories, or something different with some nice puzzles then this is a check out game. If you get really stuck, you can click the oval numbered button above the inventory window for a hint, but use them sparingly!
